This morning, President Barack Obama spoke words of hope tempered by cautious realism. He spoke of the importance of unity and the dangerous divisiveness of fear. Although he did not directly reference Dr. King, President Obama's themes echoed those emphasized by the Civil Rights leader almost 50 years ago.

Today, people around the country celebrated Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and his dream. From his hometown of Atlanta to New York City to Los Angeles, millions of people remembered the man, the movement that he led, and the inspiration that he provided. This year, his legacy is particularly relevant as the world watches as inaugural preparations begin... and another important moment in history is celebrated.

Thanks to everyone who attended the Dream On! CD release/MLK birthday bash at Molly Malone's last night! Almost four hours of music and spoken-word from many amazing artists. Los Angeles musicians were joined by out-of-towners from 3 other states and Vancouver, Canada. Look for video clips on our podcast page over the next few weeks. Thanks for such a successful launch!

January 15, 2009. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. would have celebrated his 80th birthday. The artists of Dream On! will be celebrating on Dr. King's behalf by launching their tribute project in Los Angeles. About a dozen artists will be on hand to perform, and the evening will be hosted by celebrated spoken-word artist, Joe Hernandez.
