Like the rest of this website, this page is a work in progress. If you have a question that’s not listed here, please email it to us at info@thedreamcontinued.org.

Nonprofit partners:

Q. How did you choose your nonprofit partners?

A. First, we established a guideline for the types of organizations with whom we were interested in partnering. The “categories” that we established were human rights/civil rights, peace and justice, education, poverty relief, and community-building. Then, the participating musicians nominated and voted on the organizations. We then contacted the ones with the most votes. It turned out that we had the best luck with the organizations where we had personal contacts – for example, where one of the artists had previously volunteered or otherwise knew the key people.

Q. Are you interested in partnering with more nonprofit organizations?

A.Yes… but not immediately. We want to be able to raise a meaningful amount of money for our partnering nonprofit organizations – so we don’t want to dilute the donations too much. However, once a certain amount is raised (and that amount is still being determined), we would be interested in partnering with additional nonprofits that fit into our categories (human rights/civil rights, peace and justice, education, poverty relief, and community-building).

If you work with a nonprofit organization whose projects fit into one or more of the above categories and who is interested in partnering with Dream On!, please send an email to info@thedreamcontinued.org. In the subject heading, please type: NONPROFIT ORGANIZATION.

Donations:

Q. What is Paypal?

A. Paypal is a secure way to make purchases or donations over the internet. If you don’t already have a Paypal account, you can set one up (it’s easy) at www.paypal.com. You just need a credit or debit card. When you get your statement, it will say “PayPal,” not the individual organization to which you made your donation.

If you’d rather make a donation by check, that’s fine too. Please make it payable to one of our nonprofit partners (for a tax-deductible donation) or to Three of Wands Productions (not tax-deductible). In either case, please send the check to:

Three of Wands Productions

PO Box # 4324

Culver City, CA 90230

Q. Why are the checks sent to Three of Wands Productions and not to the individual organizations?

A. You certainly may opt to send your donation directly to the organization of your choice. But, there are a few reasons for sending it to us:

  1. We want to keep track of the donations that we’re raising through this site. If you send your check directly to the nonprofit organization, it will be difficult (or impossible) to track it.
  2. It’s actually easier for the nonprofit orgs as well. This way, we send them all the checks at the end of the month, so they can process them at one time.
  3. By making the donation through us, we won’t share your information unless you tell us it’s okay. So, if you want to remain relatively anonymous, this is the way to go.

Q. Can I make a donation in a currency other than US dollars?

A. Absolutely! If you make a donation through Paypal, it’s especially easy. If you’re going to write a check, that’s fine too. It just will take a little while longer to process.

Q. Can I get a receipt of my donation for tax purposes?

A. Definitely! The site will generate a receipt for you. You can either save it or print it out. If you forget to do that, we can generate another one for you.

Q. How will the donations be distributed?

A. Any donations that come in as checks will be sent to the designated organizations at the end of the month. The individual checks will then be processed by those organizations. The donations that come through Paypal also will be distributed at the end of the month – in one lump sum to each organization (as designated by the donors).

In addition, a portion of the CD and merchandise sales will be earmarked for and divided equally among our partner organizations.

Music:

Q. How did you choose the songs?

A. This was VERY difficult! We had almost 500 submissions to 30 slots. Initial screening was based on overall quality and relevance of the lyrics. Then, we wanted a diversity of genres… R&B, indie rock, folk, jazz, and more. Six judges were involved with the selection process.

Q. How did you choose the track order?

A. Once the 30 songs were set, we needed to create the 2 discs. We tried to keep the songs in musical “families” (eg, folk-Americana-indie rock on one disc and R&B, jazz, world, gospel on the other). We went through many permutations, trying to come up with what we felt was the best track order… but there really is no “best” – and somebody else surely would have done it differently.

Q. I’m a musician with a song that would be great for this project. How do I submit it?

A. Great! We currently are accepting submissions for our weekly additions, which will contribute to our volume 2. Send your MP3, lyrics, and contact information to info@thedreamcontinued.org. In the subject line, please put “SONG SUBMISSION.”

Q. I’m interested in licensing the music. What do I need to do?

A. Dream On! has a nonexclusive licensing agreement with the artists. So… if you’re interested in licensing any music, you’ll need to contact that artist directly. You should be able to do that through the links that they’ve provided on their ARTIST page. If you have trouble, you can always send us an email, and we’ll forward it to them.

Q. Can I sample or alter any of the music?

A. Nope – not without licensing it from the original artists. They all hold the copyrights for their songs. Some of them have been published elsewhere, so there may be other parties that have a vested interest as well. Please contact the artists if you have any questions. You should be able to do that through the links that they’ve provided on their ARTIST page. If you have trouble, you can always send us an email, and we’ll forward it to them

Q. Will there be a volume 2?

A. That’s the plan! Each week, beginning the first week of February, we’ll add new music to our site that’s available for free download. Volume 2 will include a selection from those MP3s along with some totally new music that won’t have been published on our site.
