<itunes:summary>Born an Army brat, Jo spent her childhood moving all over the United States and Europe, living on different military bases with her family. She fell in love with performance at an early age and moved to New York to formally study theater and music. In New York, she started playing guitar and writing songs. Upon graduating NYU, Jo threw herself into classical vocal studies and began the long process of songcrafting -- al the experimenting with different forms of artistic expression. In 2005, Jo formed a short-lived fusion (jazz, classical, folk) group with trumpet player Charlie Porter, called Joellen and the Dogbiters . She has also worked with avant-garde/classical composer Faye Ellen Silverman, who wrote "Left Behind," a fifteen-minute piece for French horn and voice. This composition was based on a musical story Jo created with Ann Ellsworth, called "Left Right," which was performed at the New School. As an actress, Jo has performed in new plays as well as some of Shakespeare's classics. Jo has also worked on soundscape project with video artist Chris Allen and The Light Surgeons and other multimedia artists. In 2008, Jo released her well-received EP, Wake on the Hudson , which she wrote while living on a 66-foot boat docked on the Jersey side of the Hudson. She often plays in New York City at such venues as Rockwood Music Hall, the Living Room, Pianos, and Banjo Jim's and can also be seen regionally, playing in Long Island and Connecticut. Recently, she debuted By Associations , a radio show that features live music, guests and portraits of interesting persons on WPKN 89.5 Bridgeport, CT. She is indebted to Bob Johnson at WPKN for all the time spent in radio mentorship on his "Second Saturday Magazine." She has worked with countless talented New York-based musicians, including Jim Campilongo, Ann Ellsworth, Charlie, Porter, and Brent Arnold. Currently, she is working on her second recording. Jo also gives vocal lessons and beginner guitar lessons. <itunes:summary>The Jaik Miller Band (JMB) has had several incarnations. Originally called TRUStY, they played their first show at the NOLA Jazz and Heritage Festival in the spring of 2005. The TRUStY shows put "multimedia visionary folk" on the map, attracting the attention of such artists as Alex Grey and Luke Brown. TRUStY was quickly welcomed into the JamBand scene sweeping North America, and they appeared at many notable events and venues. TRUStY eventually became The Jaik Miller Band and is now composed of Jaik (guitar/vox), Max Tucker (drums/vox), Garth MacAleavey (guitar/keys/vox), Strokes' guru, JP Bowersock (guitar), and Brian Murphey (bass). "Never has there been such a group of individuals that behaved so well as a single organism." In the winter of 2006-2007, the JMB boys went to Carriage House Studios in Stamford, CT (where artists such as the Pixies, Deftones, and Diana Ross were recorded) -- with Bowersock in the producer's chair. The album was recorded in an "ol'skool rock 'n roll" style and is laced with unabashed homages to the boys' musical influences: From the pop-punk energy of "Social Disease" and "Anything you Want" to the psychedelic twang of "Orange Sunshine" to the Marley-esque "Keep Movin'" to the straight-up rock and rolle of "4447" and "Another Good Look." The album was mixed by super genius (and Folk City alumnus), Mark Dann, and is peppered with performances by Dann (upright bass), Uncle Earl's Kristen Andreassen (harmonica), and the vocals of rising star, Megan Andrews. Of JMB, Bowersock has said, "The band is talented, tight, and able to walk the line between a rock band and a jam band in a way few are able to." JMB has jammed with many amazing artists, including members of Blues Traveler, Uncle Earl, Robert Randolph's Family Band, AC/DC, and Los Amigos Invisibles. In addition, They have appeared with Fishbone, Tim Reynolds, Adam Dietch Project, Susan Vega, Jazz Mandolin Project, Spin Doctors' Chris Barron, and many others. <itunes:summary> "The voice of an angel..." -- Maya Angelou

"This is somebody you need to pay attension to. Her songs have wonderfully melodic curves and her vocals are marvelously lustrous." -- Robert Oermann, Music Row Magazine

"Kate is a woman of conscience who sings with a vengence." -- The Rev. Lisa Hunt, Nashville, TN

Kate is a well-respected songwriter and recording artist who has spent many years in the musical circles of Nashville and Los Angeles, and whose love of well-crafted acoustic music is apparent. Inspired by such artists/writers as Joni Mitchell and Emmylou Harris, Wallace began her performing career in Los Angeles. Although offered recording deals, she didn't feel then that the time was right. Instead, she moved to Nashville to develop her skills as a songwriter.

After Kate settled in Music City, ASCAP quickly recognized her potential and picked her as one of six writers to participate in a year-long writing seminar with Rory Bourke, now a member of the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame. She was also featured in ASCAP's first (and only) artist showcase, which led to her major label deal (RCA).

Kate has also been a staff writer for PolyGram Music and had songs recorded by mainstream artists, like Billy Ray Cyrus and Neal McCoy, as well as numerous cuts by lesser known but highly regarded artists, like Michael Lille, the Goodman Brothers, and Alan Rhody. In 1994, she won the Johnny Mercer Foundation Award for her song, "Going Through the Emotions." It is featured on her first CD, Kate Wallace , on the Honest label. While in Nashville, she performed on numerous television shows, including Nashville Now and Music City Tonight and over the years has performed at many amazing venues.

Her musical life was changed in 1993, when she was a New Folk finalist at the Kerrville (Texas) Folk Festival. Being exposed to so many great singer-songwriters from all over the world made it hard to write for mainstream radio any longer. Since that epiphany summer, she has performed regularly on the Kerrville main stage and has become a crowd favorite. She also plays the wonderful Bliss Music Festival in Traverse City, Michigan. Some of her many honors include being one of six headliners on the Women of Kerrville tour (as well as being featured on that CD), and being a winner at the Napa Folk Festival , the Sierra Folk Festival , and the Woody Guthrie Festival.

Kate now lives in Santa Barbara, California, where she is committed to creating music that matters and continues to travel all over the country to appear at clubs, festivals, and house concerts, as well as to conduct songwriting and guitar workshops. Kate's music can be purchased on iTunes, and her CDs are available at www.katewallace.com and iTunes.

Kate started her own entertainment company -- New Pair O'Dimes Music -- in 1998. The company has released three CDs: Two-Lane America (a collaboration with Michael Camp), Too Long From the Sea , and Politics and Religion (Kate's latest release). Kate is endorsed by Elixer Strings and LOVES playing them.

<itunes:subtitle>Song: One World</itunes:subtitle>
<itunes:summary> My musical journey began as a very young child. I was photographed at the age of 2 playing the piano and singing, and I've never stopped.

I remember feeling drawn to singing and musical instruments, the blendng of voices and sound, and especially the magic of harmony. As the only musician in my family, it seemed that music chose me, as if to say, "This is what you are here to do."

Known as the "tiny kid with the big voice" singing in the church choir, I experienced incredible love and support. That helped nurture the feeling that touching hearts through music was my calling in life. I was initiated into the professional performing world at 14, touring Southern California as Mary Magdalene in a production of Jesus Christ Superstar, and then at 15 with parts in Godspell.

As time passed, I found my scope widening, both geographically and musically. After many years touring throughout California and the Pacific Northwest, I began performing in Europe in 1991. The touring experience has helped to shape me as a writer by providing insights gained from both observation and personal experience.

Along the way, I've worn many hats in the music business: solo artist, songwriter, session singer, club performer, bandleader, producer, arranger, recording engineer, and mentor.

I am inspired by the depth of artists such as Sting, Michael McDonald, Don Henley, and Jackson Brown for their willingness to addres the current human condition through their songwriting. Although I have a unique sound vocally, stylistically I am compared to many artists: Karen Carpenter, Diana Krall, Sarah McLachlan, Joni Mitchell, and Trisha Yearwood to name a few. The wide range of artists that influence me all seem to bleed through in my compositions and vocal/keyboard style.

As an independent artist operating my own record label (One World Records) and publishing company (Dancing Trees Music BMI), I am fortunate to have both artistic and business control. A 6-year sub-publishing arrangement with a German record label/publisher was insturmental in promoting my music throughout Europe.

Always looking to expand my horizons and reach a wider audience, I have recently been active writing for and producing outside artists in various genres, pitching my material for use in film and television, and working with local non-profits such as Hospice. I am also enjoying mentoring several teenagers in vocal performance, production, and songwriting. I get the opportunity to pass on some of my knowledge as well as discover a wealth of new talent!

Music has provided me an emotional and creative outlet -- a safe place for me to retreat in order to reflect, heal, discover, and create. Then, through my CDs and live performances, I can share those experiences, touching emotions and feelings we all have in common.

My 6 releases chronicle my journey through this life, reflecting those experiences through the mirror of my heart and soul.

<itunes:summary> Helen Mottee is a songwriter/singer/pianist from Australia. She has worked as a professional musician throughout Australia and New Zealand and also in Zimbabwe.

During the past three years in particular, her focus in song-writing has been on social justice and humanitarian issues, and she has had the privilege of visiting many countries and aid projects, which have influenced her writing.

One of the most significant trips Helen has made was to Afghanistan in November, 2005. She was privileged to visit outlying rural areas with medical teams and to experience the realities of the endless war zone that country has become. This influenced not only her song-writing, but her desire to be more involved in the sending of aid.

Helen's year in Zimbabwe inspired her first album, They Told Me This is Africa . The title song won the contemporary ballad category in the Australian Songwriters' Association's annual song-writing contest in 2001. Another of her songs won the Sacred Song category, and she was named Songwriter of the Year. http://www.asai.org.au/results2001 The following year, They Told Me This is Africa won the rhythm and blues category of the Australian Musicoz national contest.

Helen's third album, The Cry , was released in 2005 and reflects the issues and concerns she was contronted with during trips undertaken throughout Asia. In 2004, her song, "Don't Tell Me," made it into the top 5 in its category in the Australian Musicoz annual awards.

On June 20th, 2008 -- World Refugee Day -- Helen launched her new album, Letters from the 5th Estate. One of the songs from this album -- "Do You" -- was written for and about refugees and has been used by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees in Hong Kong for World Refugee Day in their national television campaign.

Helen and her family are full-time volunteers with Crossroads International, a humanitarian aid charity based in Hong Kong.

<itunes:subtitle>Song: Marchin' with Martin Luther King, Jr.</itunes:subtitle>
<itunes:summary> Joe Dolce was born in Painesville, Ohio, in 1947, but since 1979 has made Melbourne, Australia his home. With his partner of three decades, Lin Van Hek, he has six children and nine grandchildren. His first book of poetry will be published in early 2010.

His current CD, The Wind Cries Mary , was named Album of the Year by Radio, Melbourne. Dolce also wrote, produced, and performed Shaddap You Face, which continues to hold the 5-times platinum record for the most successful song in Australian music history for 29 years straight! Over 60 cover versions have been produced, with translations into at least 10 languages, including a pidgin from Papua New Guinea and the Indjibundji dialect of the Australian aboriginal language.

Joe was the principle and founding member, along with Lin Van Hek, of the unique and ongoing literary and folk music group, DifficultWomen, which debuted in 1992. But, Joe's talents stretch beyond folk to include classical compositions ( Joan on Fire , oratorio for string orchestra, choir, soloists, and brass trio).

As a songwriter, Joe's words have been sung by many talented artists, including Robert Earl Keen, Jr, Keith Whitley, J.D. Crowe and the New South, Jonathan Edwards, The Tumbleweeds, Rosalie Sorrels, and many others. His music has also found its way into pop culture, with songs like Intimacy (executive producer, lead guitarist, and cowriter; sung by Lin Van Hek), which appeared in the classic sci-fi film, The Terminator.

<itunes:subtitle>Song: King for a Day</itunes:subtitle>
<itunes:summary> Mateo Denali is an unusual mash-up of experiences, both in and out of the musical realm. He is both classically trained and a self-taught musician. Son of lengendary singer/writer/producer, Eugene McDaniels, he was fed daily doses of classic rock, classical, soul, funk, jazz, pop, folk, hip-hop, reggae, and more. It was inescapable that he would forge a unique musical path.

Mateo has performed since the age of five and has rooted down in Los Angeles, performing at some of L.A.'s most sumptuous venues. He has also had songs licensed for TV and film soundtracks and has arranged/produced/performed on independent CD releases, including Dane Cook's Tourgasm on HBO (and it's subsequent soundtrack). He also has made a guest-artist appearance on "Signs of Life" from the Music Inspired by the Movie -- Wall-E" EP (itunes only).

Incessant grooves, gritty guitars, poignant lyrics, and exquisite, intimate vocals pour out of every song he composes and performs.

<itunes:subtitle>Song: Manifest</itunes:subtitle>
<itunes:summary> Akron, OH native and singer/songwriter Zach wants everyone ot know that "anything is possible." He should know: His career is a living testament to that phrase.

Zach started writing songs and playing guitar after a near-death experience of a burst appendix. "I really believe I was shown my path, and I'm just trying to do the best I can with it. If I can make someone smile, forget about the horrors of the day, to dance, to maybe be a little bit more conscientious of others, then I'm doing my job. Then I can be happy."

The prolific musician has self-released and promoted nine albums to date. His latest is What I Meant to Say , much of which was written about or in the aftermath of his father's passing from pancreatic cancer. Yet, this is not a melancholy album. It is decidedly optimistic. "How could it not be? Many of these songs started in dark places, but the light found them."

"In the time since my last record, I've really come into my own much more, in writing, performing, and my life in general. What I Meant to Say is a reflection of that growth." Zach's personal growth has been mirrored by professional growth, as he works with a talented band who all traveled to Atlanta's Tree Sound and Namaste Studios to record with Nick Chawala (Gym Class Heroes, Collective Soul, Outkast).

"My reason for existence is to uplift and inspire people," he explains. He continues to spread his message to benefit various cancer and autism charities and societies as well as maintaining An Evening for Chuck -- a celebration of music, art, and life. The event's purpose is to raise awareness and funding for pancreatic cancer research.
